Awards

Mt Gravatt Little Athletics holds an annual awards day in February to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our athletes. Below are the available achievement awards.

Age Champions and Runners Up for each age group (U6-U17)

Awards are based on performance (points are awarded from 1st Place to final place in each event, each week), 50% or more attendance for the season, co-operation with officials, committee, attitude, presentation

Most Improved Trophy (U6 – U17 age groups)

This award is based on the athlete with the most improved (PB’s) for the season, other than Age Champion or Runner Up.

Club Pentathlon – Twilight Evening Pentathlon

For those athletes in age groups U8 to U17 who accumulate most points over five specified events in the evening.

Presidents Awards

For athletes – one boy and one girl who, in the opinion of the committee, have ‘plugged’ away, week in and week out. (Age champions ineligible)

Arena Managers Trophy

For an athlete who, in the opinion of the Arena Manager or Committee, is always ready, willing and able to assist (Age champions ineligible)

Competition Managers Trophy (male and female)

For sportsmanship shown on Regional Relays Day

Norm Gadd Memorial Trophy

The athlete with the highest number of PB’s in the entire club – an extraordinary effort!

McDonalds Shields for Best All Rounder Athletes

For athletes who have achieved at a high level in track and field events.  Selection criteria based on Blue Levels achieved in all events.

  • John Mudford Junior Trophy (U6- U10) – Best all round junior track performer

Selected on highest achievement levels above Blue Levels in Track Events

Junior Club Person of the year – Presidents Trophy

Winners based on sportsmanship, personal best improvements, participation in regional relays and attendance.  To be eligible, athletes must attempt all events at least once (U6 – U10)

Senior Club Person Trophy of the Year

Winner based on sportsmanship, personal best improvements and attendance. To be eligible, athletes must attempt all events at least once (U11-U17)

Centre Attendance Awards

For all Athletes with 100% attendance for the season.

Ten Year Service Award

This award is presented to an athlete who has been a member of Mt Gravatt Little A’s for 10 years.

Five Year Service Award

This award is presented to an athlete who has been a member of Mt Gravatt Little A’s for 5 years (not necessarily continuous).

Participation Trophy

For all Athletes who attain at least 50% attendance points from joining date.

Life Membership

The person receiving this prestigious award must have been a member of the Club for at least 10 years; must have been a committee member for at least 7 years, and most importantly, they must have performed their normal duties as well as other tasks over and above what is generally required of ordinary Committee Members.

LAQ AWARDS

Laurie Baartz Improvement Trophy

This trophy is presented each year at State Championships to the Little Athlete showing the greatest degree of personal improvement. MGLA nominee is the winner/s of the Norm Gadd Memorial Trophy. The winner of the Norm Gadd Trophy will be nominated for this award.

George Harvey Trophy

The State award is presented each year to an U15 girl and/or boy in Qld who best demonstrates they embrace the ideals of Little Athletics.

State Selection — Australian Little Athletics Championships

U13 athletes compete at the LAQ Regional and State Championships. Whilst recognition is given to individual place-getters, the emphasis is on Team Performance. .

U15 athletes are eligible for selection to compete in the Pentathlon Competition (Hurdles, 100m, 800m, Long Jump and Discus).
